Net-billing is a billing mechanism that credits PV system owners for the surplus electricity that is returned to the grid after the needs of the business (producer-consumer of energy) have been met. The value of the surplus exported energy is offset in the electricity bill of the premises. If the cost of the exported electricity exceeds the cost of the imported electricity, the excess amount is credited during the following billing period. Any surplus at the end of a 12-month period (October) is written off.
